1st Match

1st Half

Yate Rangers came out on top against Fry Club thanks to a classy performance from their A team.

Jack Heaven came close to opening the scoring for Yate in the first game, but couldn’t quite scramble the ball over the line after a good corner by Blaine Skuse.

Ben Watt produced a good save from Yate’s Curtis Lake after some good build up play from Josh Clements.

Ben Clapp had Fry’s first chance with 16 minutes gone, but his shot went straight at Ryan Carter.

Fry’s then went close to opening the scoring on the stroke of half time with Perry May and Clapp combining well down the right, but Clapp’s cross was centimetres away from Mickey Parsons boot.

2nd Half

Yate started well after the break and Lake gave them the lead five minutes in after he beat Jonathan Shorland and buried his shot into the bottom right hand corner. Two minutes later it was 2-0 with an own goal after the ball acme off Jonathan Shorland from a Yate corner.

Straight from the kick off Yate scored a third goal through Lake after Fry’s defence failed to clear the ball. Lake completed his hat trick with three minutes to go, this time thumping home a free kick from the edge of the box.

Fry’s had the last word with Lee Heath scoring from a late corner.

Man of the match – Midfielder Joel Rowbottom

2nd Match

1st Half

The second match got off to a slow start and the only real chance in the first 10 minutes fell to Kyle Morris, but his shot was well saved by Connor Davis. Morris continued to look a threat up front for Fry’s, but it was Yate who took the lead after 17 minutes through Thomas Ills.

Fry’s pushed up, but Yate goalkeeper Davis stood strong to deny them twice.

In the second half, Fry’s levelled through Morris after a well-taken corner with 10 minutes left in the game. Yate’s Ills forced  Jovi Beltcher into a good save with five minutes remaining, as did William Lane from the rebound, but Yate held on for the victory.
